The Shed 33, October–November 2010

The Shed Issue 33 is our fifth birthday issue and we celebrate with some great content, starting with readers who share their creations with us that they built after being inspired by the magazine. We meet prolific Kiwi race car builder Craig Greenwood and Gordon Hudson has Part I of how to build a reflector telescope. Peter Byam builds us a pipe bender that curves flats and we do a step by step guide on how to install some sliding doors into an old villa. David Blackwell makes a table and chairs set for the grandchildren then John Shaw shows how to customise a plane blade. Bob Hulme walks us through how to build some strong and simple home made shelves and we visit the Christchurch shed of our woodwork maestro, David Blackwell. Wayne Hooper gets making some jewellery, a Shubunkin Fish then we head back to Christchurch to visit the university to learn about their extraordinary plasma beam of light that has the characteristic of a flash of lightning. Vik Oliver discusses the huge leaps in online collaberation with open source software before we end with Bruce Ansley discussing Dyslexia and showing many sufferers who have succeeded brilliantly despite having the condition.
