New Zealand Classic Car 301, January 2016

This month we celebrate 300 issues of New Zealand Classic Car magazine, as well as our 25th Anniversary. In acknowledgement of these significant milestones, this special issue comes with a 2016 New Zealand Classic Car calendar and a set of New Zealand Classic Car playing cards to thank our readers for all the support over the years.

This issue features a rare coach-built Ford Zodiac Estate built by Abbotts of Farnham, and we also take a look at some of the other special models this company produced during the 1950s and 1960s.

If exotic Italian machinery is more your style, we’ve got a treat for you as we get to drive two classic supercars. Made famous by the ’80s TV programme Miami Vice, the Testarossa was once Ferrari’s range-topping supercar. Our featured pristine, low-mileage example is just the way it left the factory, and is definitely the best we’ve ever come across. With its iconic V-shaped rear wing and behemoth V12 engine, Lamborghini’s outrageously designed Countach need no introduction, and is still widely regarded as being the ultimate supercar.

We take time out to relax in total style and comfort and take a $1.1m Rolls-Royce Phantom SII out for a few days. Read all about this sensational vehicle and why it’s regarded as being the ultimate luxury car.

What does it take to come up with a great magazine cover? Allan Walton looks back over his 200 issues as editor of this publication and gives us a rare insight into some of the cover designs that never quite made it.

There’s also our usual complement of news items, as well as other features that’ll keep you reading over the summer break.
