This month we celebrate 30 great years of New Zealand Classic Car. During this time, the magazine, now New Zealand’s favourite motoring title, has built a loyal following and played no small part in making New Zealand’s classic car scene one of the most vibrant in the world. In this issue, we interview the man behind the plan, Greg Vincent, who says he fell into the classic car scene almost by accident. We also get some interesting insights from long-term contributors Michael Clark, Donn Anderson, Patrick Harlow, Quinton Taylor, and Trevor Stanley-Joblin.
This was also the 50th year for the Ellerslie Classic Car Show, and we take an in-depth look at the Masters Class–winning Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, as well as a Survivor Class 1966 Ford Thunderbird time capsule. We also feature a rare US Postal Service delivery van from the deep south, and one of the most striking and sexy cars ever to be dressed in the Martini ribbons in the form of a hand-built Lancia 037 Rally car by Carteroni. Plus, we find out what happened to the sixth Lotus Esprit.
